Pursue an undergraduate degree in Global and International Studies.
Global and International Studies (GLIS) is dedicated to understanding human cultures and societies as part of an interconnected world. By bringing together expertise from Humanities and Social Sciences, GLIS takes an interdisciplinary approach to the global challenges facing us today. We encourage students to expand their global perspectives through scholarly study, research, international communication, and experience abroad.
GLIS majors focus on a pathway – human rights, culture and identity, global conflict, wealth and inequality, and health and environment – and take courses from various academic departments across campus. This versatile liberal arts major equips students with a broad understanding of global issues while developing their critical thinking and communication skills. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in government, education, diplomatic service, intelligence analysis, international business and finance, and non-profit organizations as well as prestigious fellowships like Fulbright and Boren and competitive graduate programs in fields as diverse as international development, global education, sustainability, public policy, and international law.
See this fact sheet for more on what you can do with a major in Global and International Studies.
